The story to date ………

Emblems New Zealand was established in 1989 by Rob & Joy Gillard, as a small engraving business and the sole NZ Distributor for A J Parkes from Brisbane. "Emblems" worked firstly from the living room of the family home marketing medals throughout New Zealand, designing and making trophies and of course engraving. Quickly "Emblems" had to be relocated to the granny flat to accommodate growth and their first employees. Right from the start "Emblems" hit the ground running picking up Hamilton City Council as their first customer, manufacturing their then new medals.

Within a few short years "Emblems" had out grown the family home and granny flat and was moved to the corner of Boundary Rd and Victoria Street...This extremely high profile location paired with good old fashioned hard work meant "Emblems" had to expand to 10 employee's...within this period "Emblems" picked up some extremely high profile organizations...World Rally Championships, Athletics NZ, and World Netball just to name a few.

1999 saw Penni, Rob's daughter and Sandy his son in-law join the family business. Still busting at the seams it was decided to buy 3 Norton Rd and over the 2000 Christmas period "Emblems" shifted into the newly furnished, freshly painted buildings, where it still now resides. Emblems flourished in this new location, complete with larger screen-printing facilities, roomier offices and work spaces. It is about this time “Emblems” started using fully computer operated engraving machines and also started importing and sandblasting glass, not to mention our first laser engraving machine.

2005 saw the sale of “Emblems” to Doug and Jan Robertson who have picked up the family spirit of the business and continued to grow “Emblems”. Doug and Jan have invested in a new ceiling complete with air-conditioning throughout, also new computers as well as a whole new look painting the building a very striking modern black colour, and rebuilding this new web site to suit our new image. We also have new engraving machines, including among others the largest by diameter rotary engraving machine and the most powerful laser engraver on the market.

2010 has been an interesting year so far with “Emblems” currently employing 15 staff at peak times. Emblems NZ has designed and made trophies and medals for the Waikato Rugby Union, Tennis NZ, Badminton NZ, the ANZ Championships, The National Bank, Century 21, Southland Girls High and many more high profile Schools, Businesses and Sporting organisations. We are still not too big to care about the little guys, most of our local customers include small schools and clubs that work hard in the community and have limited budgets, it really doesn’t matter the size of your organisation we are here to offer you the best possible service we can provide.
